Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

Scope
This policy covers the Autojob Chrome extension only (the side panel, options page, and background scripts installed from the Chrome Web Store or loaded as an unpacked extension).
The Autojob website and web app are covered by a separate policy: autojob.app/privacy. If you use both, both policies apply.
Who We Are
The Autojob Chrome extension is operated by Cryt Limited (trading as Cryt Ltd), company number 708083.
Privacy questions: privacy@autojob.com
Single Purpose
Autojob helps you apply to jobs. It detects application forms, fills them with your resume and profile data, and uses AI agents you start to navigate multi-step applications. Permissions and data access described below are used only for that purpose.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the extension, the following categories of data are processed.
Account and authentication
If you sign in, we process your Autojob account email and Firebase authentication tokens so the extension can load your profile. Sign-in is completed on app.autojob.app; the extension receives a token and does not collect your Autojob password.
Personally identifiable information and resume data
When you are signed in, the extension reads your resume and related profile data (name, email, phone, address, work history, education, links) from Firebase so it can fill job application forms. A PDF copy of your resume may be generated by the Autojob API and cached in Chrome local storage for file-upload fields. Cover letter data is loaded the same way if you have one saved.
Website content and web history (current tab)
To fill forms and drive the AI agent, the extension reads the URL, title, HTML/DOM, form fields, and screenshots of pages you use it on. This can include job listings, application forms, and related career-site pages. It does not run as a general browsing history logger.
User activity
The extension stores locally: chat/task history, settings, cached job search results, and mass-apply progress.
Payment and credits
If you buy Autojob credits or a plan, payment is handled on the website by Stripe. The extension only reads your credit balance and plan status from your Autojob account so it can show them in the side panel. The extension does not collect card numbers.
How We Use Your Information
- Fill job application forms with your resume and profile data
- Run AI agents you start to navigate application pages
- Upload your cached resume PDF into file inputs on application forms
- Fetch job listings from the Autojob job search API when you start Mass Apply
- Show your credit balance and keep you signed in
AI and Page Content
When you run an AI feature, the extension sends the current page context (including HTML/DOM, screenshots, form structure, and your task instructions) to a language model so it can decide the next click or fill. Resume fields needed to answer the form are included in that context.
If you use your own API keys, that data is sent from your browser directly to the provider you configured (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google). Autojob does not sit in the middle. That provider's privacy policy then applies.
If you enable "Use Autojob API" (credits), the same page context is sent to Autojob's LLM proxy so we can call a model on your behalf and deduct credits. We use that data only to complete the task you started.
If you use a local model (for example Ollama), AI processing stays on your machine.
Chrome Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions because job applications appear on many different company sites and ATS platforms. They are used only to provide Autojob features:
- storage and unlimitedStorage
Save settings, chat history, resume PDF cache, and job-search cache on your device
- tabs, activeTab, and host access to websites
Read the current tab URL and page so Autojob can detect application forms and ATS pages on company career sites
- scripting
Inject the form-detection and autofill scripts into the page you are applying on
- debugger
Attach to the tab you are using so the agent can click, type, screenshot, and navigate multi-step applications. Chrome shows a debugging banner while this is attached. Autojob does not use this permission to debug unrelated browsing or other extensions.
- webNavigation
Detect when an application page finishes loading or moves to the next step
- downloads
Save your resume PDF to your Downloads folder when you ask the extension to download it
- sidePanel
Show the Autojob chat and apply interface in Chrome's side panel
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share data only as needed to run the product:
- Firebase (Google Cloud): account, resume sync, credits
- Your chosen LLM provider, or Autojob's LLM proxy if you use credits
- Employers and ATS platforms: the information you submit on their application forms
- Stripe, via the Autojob website, if you purchase credits or a plan
- Legal authorities if required by law
Storage and Security
LLM API keys you paste into Settings are stored in Chrome local storage on your device. They are not sent to Autojob servers.
Signed-in resume and account data is stored in Firebase. Local caches (PDF, chat, settings) stay in Chrome storage until you clear them or uninstall.
Uninstalling the extension removes local extension storage. It does not automatically delete your Autojob website account. Request account deletion as described below.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not collect passwords from job sites, LinkedIn, or your browser's password manager
- We do not read password fields on application or login forms
- We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising
- We do not use your resume to train public AI models
- This extension does not use Gmail send, HubSpot, or website marketing pixels
Your Controls
- Use your own LLM keys or a local model instead of Autojob credits
- Clear conversation history from the side panel
- Sign out, or uninstall the extension to remove local data
- Request deletion of your Autojob account and cloud resume data
Data Retention
| Data | Where | Kept until |
|---|---|---|

You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold.
